Ombudspersons
for Handling Scientific Misconduct
for Handling Scientific Misconduct
Ombudspersons operate in accordance with Goethe University's Statute to Ensure Good Scientific Practice.
The Senate has appointed Prof. Dr. Christian Wiese and Prof. Dr. Petra Döll as ombudspersons (male/female) to address issues related to academic misconduct.
Anyone faced with specific circumstances that could substantiate a violation of the rules of good scientific practice or raise suspicion of scientific misconduct should have the opportunity within Goethe University to confidentially discuss the matter with a neutral and qualified individual, without fearing any disadvantages for themselves or their research group.
The ombudsperson is available as a trusted contact for all questions regarding good scientific practice and in cases of suspected academic misconduct (Ombudspersonen-Fehlverhalten@uni-frankfurt.de).
The ombudsperson also serves to resolve potential conflicts that may arise, particularly for early-career researchers, from the contradiction between loyalty to their supervisors or a working group and the obligation to uphold scholarly integrity. If necessary, they refer the matter to the Commission for Addressing Scientific Misconduct.
You can reach the ombudspersons confidentially via email at Ombudspersonen-Fehlverhalten@uni-frankfurt.de. For phone inquiries, Prof. Dr. Christian Wiese can be contacted at extension 798-33313, and Prof. Dr. Petra Döll at 798-40219.
