Marc Jaquemin

"Our thinking and action are based on our appreciation of openness and diversity."
(Goethe University's Mission Statement)

Whenever people interact and collaborate, there is a potential for conflict to arise — seemingly incompatible positions and interests may clash. Conflicts present a significant challenge for those involved and can result in situations where faculty, staff, and students are no longer able to cooperate actively and in a spirit of partnership. Experiences of disadvantage and discrimination also place a heavy burden on those affected; the disregard of individual rights harms the entire institution.

A positive culture of constructive conflict resolution and feedback can help defuse tensions and foster effective solutions.

These pages provide all Goethe University members with information on how to handle stressful situations, conflicts, and instances of discrimination. It also outlines the support services the university offers.

The pages align with the works agreement on conflict resolution and fostering a collaborative workplace environment, which applies to all Goethe University employees and trainees.

Please make use of the opportunities available to you and help contribute to maintaining and strengthening a culture of mutual respect and cooperative interactions.
