MathCityMap

Discovering math outdoors

The IDMI offers mathematics teachers and their school classes the opportunity to experience mathematics in their own environment. Along a mathematical hiking trail (Mathtrail), everyday objects become mathematical problems. Guided by the free, ad-free, and GDPR-compliant smartphone app MathCityMap, students work in small groups to solve problems by measuring, counting, and calculating.

We offer math trails for grades 6, 8, and 10 on the Westend Campus. The math trail for each grade level covers various topics from that grade and the previous grade (e.g., volume of solids, slope, combinatorics). A math trail lasts approximately 90 minutes. At the beginning, there is an introduction to using the MathCityMap app, and students receive the necessary measuring tools from us.

The cost is €200 per class per session and can be arranged with us by email (info@mathcitymap.eu).
