Guest auditors can participate in regular university courses without needing a higher education entrance qualification. However, approval from the respective instructor is required for each individual course.
Guest auditors do not have student status, do not receive a Semesterticket, and are not entitled to obtain academic credits. Additionally, guest auditor status is not available for programs in medicine, dentistry, or pharmacy.
Which courses can be attended?
Explore the current course offerings in the digital course catalogue and select the courses you would like to attend. Contact the respective instructors (e.g., via email) to inquire whether participation as a guest auditor is possible. Contact details are provided directly in the course listing.
Complete and submit the guest auditor application:
Download the guest auditor application here, fill it out, and have the instructor sign it. Alternatively, you can obtain the instructor’s approval via email and submit it along with the completed application.
Once you have obtained all necessary approvals, calculate your individual guest auditor fee and transfer the amount to Goethe University.
Typically, a two-hour weekly course corresponds to 2 semester hours per week (SWS). The minimum fee for guest auditors is 100 euros, which includes 4 SWS. Each additional SWS costs 25 euros. A maximum of 20 SWS can be registered per semester.
Submit the completed guest auditor application (including all courses and their respective SWS) along with proof of payment for the guest auditor fee and the instructors’ approvals (signatures on the application or email confirmations). You can submit these documents by mail or email (sli@uni-frankfurt.de).
Application deadlines: April 1–30 (for the summer semester), October 1–31 (for the winter semester)
Receive confirmation of participation:
After review and receipt of payment, you will receive a countersigned copy of your application—either by mail or email. Only then is your participation officially approved.
Access to learning platforms (OLAT, Moodle):
If access to the OLAT learning platform is required for the courses you have registered for, please send an email with a scanned copy of the approved application to lernsysteme@rz.uni-frankfurt.de. Access will then be arranged for you. For Moodle access, send the scanned copy of the approved application to moodle-support@studiumdigitale.uni-frankfurt.de. You will receive access from there.
