Are you interested in starting an undergraduate course at Goethe University but earned your higher education entrance qualification outside Germany or at a school that does not follow the German Abitur system? In most cases, you will need to apply through the preliminary review service uni-assist.
Once you receive an acceptance offer (depending on the degree program, either through Hochschulstart or directly via Goethe-Campus), you can or must enrol at Goethe University within the enrolment deadline. Be sure to pay close attention to notifications sent by email and regularly check your user account on Hochschulstart or Goethe-Campus.
Applicants who are treated as equivalent to German nationals and have applied for the degree programs in Medicine, Dentistry, or Pharmacy will receive their acceptance letter directly through the Hochschulstart portal. The letter contains all the important information about enrolment. All other applicants will receive acceptance offers directly through the Goethe-Campus portal of Goethe University, which also provides access to online enrolment.
As part of the online registration process (including photo upload for the student ID for new students), you will need to upload all required documentation for enrolment within the registration deadline and simultaneously transfer the semester fee. All related information can be found on Goethe-Campus.
To complete your enrolment, you must provide proof of health insurance. This proof can be obtained either from a German statutory health insurance provider (if you are insured in Germany) or from your health insurance provider in your home country. EU citizens should submit either a European Health Insurance Card or an E 111 certificate (confirmation of entitlement to benefits during a stay in another member state).
Once all documentation has been submitted on time and any applicable payments have been made, you will receive your student ID (Goethe-Card) and information about your student account by mail within a few days.
After you have access to your student account, you can download certificates online via the Goethe-Campus portal. At this point, you will officially be enrolled at Goethe University.
In the event of a rejection, you will receive a rejection notice after the admission process has been completed. This notice will be available for download on Goethe-Campus (no postal delivery).
Are you interested in pursuing a master's program at Goethe University? To apply, you will need a first university degree (e.g., a bachelor's degree) or an equivalent qualification. In addition to your degree, we will also review whether your previous coursework aligns with the academic requirements of your desired master's program.
